School Improvement Plan (summarized)


Academic Goal
Goal: By June 2007, 90% of students at Meade High School will demonstrate the necessary academic skills for post-secondary educational experiences and the world of work.
• 90% of all Meade High School students will score proficient or higher in the Biology, Algebra, English and Government H.S.A. Achievement of groups based on race, gender, and socioeconomic status will not vary.
Action Steps:
1. Continue 9th grade academy
2. Articulate with feeder middle schools
3. Utilize school and community resources for academic improvement
4. Continue extensive extra Help Program

• 40% of all Meade High School seniors will have completed at least one Advanced Placement course, and 70% of those students will perform at a level of 3 or better on AP examinations by graduation. Achievement of groups based on race, gender, and socioeconomic status will not vary.
• 10% of all Meade High School seniors will have earned one or more International Baccalaureate certificates and 70% of those students will earn an IB diploma. Achievement of groups based on race, gender, and socioeconomic status will not vary.

3. Professional Development Programs through High Schools That Work

• 75% of all Meade High School seniors will have taken the SAT by the end of their senior year, and average scores will increase by 5% over baseline. Achievement of groups based on race, gender, and socioeconomic status will not vary.

Community Collaboration Goal
Goal: Meade Senior High School will establish community partnerships to promote academic achievement and a welcoming school environment.
• The number of community/academic/business partnerships and volunteer programs directly supporting academic achievement will increase by 10% over baseline.
Action Steps:
1. Continue community partnerships
2. Increase business volunteers
3. Increase collaboration with feeder middle schools

• 95 percent of parents and community members responding to an annual survey will indicate that the school communicates effectively and that school environments are welcoming.
Action Steps:
1. Conduct community surveys
2. Upgrade capabilities with parents
3. Improve “customer service”

Safe and Orderly Environment Goal
Goal: Meade Senior High School will create a safe learning environment that promotes accelerated achievement for all subgroup student populations.
• 95 % of students, parents, and faculty responding to an annual climate survey will indicate that they feel safe at school and believe students are well behaved.
Action Steps:

1. School climate surveys with parents, students, and teachers participating
2. Improve overall school safety
3. Involve SRO in classroom instruction
4. Continue to create Action Plans to address specific safety needs. (see addendum)
